GOOD SHABBOS
11 June 2009 |
|
|

Dear All,
The weather is now coooooling down much quicker, with dreary days ahead…..and it has ‘Tukka’ been the start of winter, with rain, and very cold, BUT ……… will clear again soon. Terrible Flu going around….I had flu shot, and hopefully will miss the Flu…?????
The British Lions game against the Cheeeeetaaaah’s (Ou Vrystaaaaaat) was nothing to rave about, with after 15 minutes , it looking like a repeat of the game against the ‘Ou Transvaal’….BUT, the Cheetah’s gave it everything, and managed to almost win….BUT, as Naasty (Naas) Botha says; The score on the board is what counts……… Brussouw had a blinder, and I believe the 26-24 final score was a fair reflection…. Methinks , that The Lions will go into the first Test, unbeaten, which would be a GR8888 motivator……..The Lions forwards showed some awesome power, and once they get their Backs going, PDV…Pasop….! ! !
Was sad to see such a poor crowd, as ‘Amolikke Yoren’ most Tour games were full, and I remember driving to Olen Park, Potchefstroom for the opening game of a few long tours, as they usually used to get the opening tour games (Western Transvaal…Oey vy, they were always weak…). I remember going with my Boet and Eddie to Loftus for a Tuesday Game …The British Lions V Northern Transvaal in 1968 (Bulls), and climbing a temporary stand (Scaffolding) , and sitting virtually in Heaven…….These past few weeks, they have been showing previous clips of the Lions past Tours….E-mazing stuff, and they ‘Tukka’ packed the stadiums in those days…….and the playing fields were ‘Tuff’ …..Some incredible footage, showing guys like Frik Du Preez, Mof Myburgh, Piet Uys, Dawie De Villiers, ‘OUR’ very own Syd Nomis, Piet Greyling, Tommy Bedford, Jan Ellis etc………The Sharks game last night was again not a true test, as many of the side were excluded ‘cause they are also in the test squad, which is ‘Bobbameises’……the Test is still nearly 2 weeks away……. PDV must Pasop, as the Lions are starting to gel…..! ! ! !! If I was PDV, I woud be ‘Bung…VERY ‘Bung’…….BUT eventually we should win the series….???
E-mazed to see that England hosted Argentine in a Test at ‘Old Trafford’..?? Though that was Sokka country…???? Zeee Englesh were without most of their regulars, and gave the Puma’s a ‘Klap’….?? Goot played very well…..
The groom stared down at the bride’s first attempt at breakfast.
What she had done to dry cereal, toast and coffee was criminal.
The groom shook his head sadly and said “I can’t believe this. You can’t cook either.”
At Cheder they were teaching how G-d created everything, including human beings.
Little Yankel seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs. Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he was ill, and she said, ' Yankele, what is the matter?' Little Yankel responded,
'I have pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife.' ( Nuuuuuuuuuuu…)
The Confederation Cup starts this coming week, with ‘In my Opinion’ very little ‘GEEEEEES’ (Spirit)…….. and of course our transport system is in total chaos at the moment, due to fixing the roads for the first time in 15 years, and virtually EVERY highway in the Major cities under construction for the ‘Mother of All Sokka Games ‘ next year, the World Cup….. I have a feeling that they have given many tickets away, to get good attendance at the Confed Cup…???
My Lichtenburg Chavers, Chick & Roland Kopel had Joel Santana over at their watch Shoppe in nelson mandela Square, and presented him a watch, to keep good time during the Cup games….Pics http://www.stantgsm.com/list_pics.php
The World Cup 20 /20 has started, and the Bokke looked ‘Fris’ in the warm up games, and hopefully will continue throughout the tournament, and hopefully take the CUP……??? As I mentioned during the IPL in April, the World Cup 20 /20 is ‘Tukka’ the REAL thing, as it is Country V Country…and not a bunch of players, playing for the $$$$$$$’s…..! ! ! ! ! Won’t even mention the Scotland game…Oey vy……Does not get closer than the NZ game, and Souff effrikka really bowled and fieded E-mazingly, and managed to defend a ‘Kak’ score off the last ball…Phew, I would not trust Parnell with the last over..???
E-mazing Clip to watch ….

When Andy took a holiday to forget everything, he opened his luggage in his hotel room and found that he had forgotten everything.
A man received a telegram from a mortician in another town.
The man’s mother in law had died. The mortician wanted instructions on whether he should bury, embalm or create the old woman.
The man replied “All three. Let’s not take any chances.”
Methinks that Roger Federer had the ‘Ganser’ World behind him at Roland Garosse, and everyone seemed to be hoping that he would win, and he did and deserved the win and he ‘Tukka’ has been a GR8888 Tennis man over his career Nadal must be kicking himself for letting Roger back in…….time will tell, BUT…Methinks the Wimbledon Title is a bit much to ask of Roger…?? Watch ‘Der Nadal’ come back……if he is fit…..
Technology has ‘Tukka’ changed from calling the Post Office to book a call overseas, to the revolutionary Personal Promotional Card. There is no cost or subscription fees. We can make up your own personal promotional card. Please go to http://www.josscom.net/stan This system allows you to Call overseas, from your Cell Phone (Mobile) at Local Souff Effrikken Cell phone rates…….’Gib A Kuk’ for all those that have Friends and family overseas (which is actually Every “Yiddisher’ family in the ‘Beloved Country’)…in fact all you have to do is punch in the number on the website and dial your contact…There are no other costs, except the normal ‘Souff Effrikken’ Cell phone ‘Rate’ charges…….sooo speak to your Chavers in “ Boca Doll’ and it is as if you are making a local Cel call…….
The Tzorres has started with the Men from the Ministry……”Our’ Cosatu Alliance partner in Government, led by Vavi has flexed muscles this week, and Vavi was quoted as saying “ We(Cosatu) are the policymakers in the alliance , and the Gov implements. The Gov does NOT lead anymore”. Well, I have been saying for years, that once the ‘Kommies & Unions’ get a foot hold in the Government, it will be a sad day…. And in fact Vavi goes on to say that the Governor of the Reserve Bank, Tito Mboweni and Slick, Brick , Trevor Emmanuel will be tailed by elected personal to see that they follow the PARTY line…….. Vavi has been hailed as a true UNION man , by not taking up a post in the Parliament, and staying with the ‘people’, which is ‘Kak’, as he has MORE power by staying with the people (rabble)…….and doing whatever he likes….the amount of strikes in the offing is ‘Skrikky’ and if half take place, we will never handle ‘Sokka 2010’ …although the FIFA Manne believe the Country will drop everything for the World Cup (which we should), BUT….these are strange ‘Doods’ are in it for themselves, and eventually they will destroy the country…….I see in the papers his rubbish is being ‘watered down’ BUT, …..‘’’like all those before him…the damage has been done, and will effect foreign investments……and that E-mazing statement; Zuma WILL do 2 terms……??? Zuma is most probably ‘Kleibing Nachus’ with that statement….BUT…says; What ever the ANC decide….’Yea right’…..????
Following the election, Bongani asked Sipho if he'd picked a winner.
"Well," he casually replied, "the man I voted for lost."
"You seem pretty calm about it," Bongani said.
"That's because the man I bet on won." (Einaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah….).
Sitting at the bar after a game of Golf, Hymie said to a club member
“I’m not about to play golf with Abe Cohen anymore.”
“Why not?”
“Well, he found his lost ball two feet from the green.”
“That’s possible.”
“Not when I had the ball in my pocket.” (Einaaaaaaaaaaah………)
Oey vy, the Madof ‘Style’ Ponzi ‘Gunavis’ has hit the ‘Beloved Country’ this week, like a Tzunami……..with the Papers, radio & TV full of it…….Lot of ‘Yidlach’ involved which is really ‘Shreklach’……and people have lost huge amounts of money…. … some sire to view are www.fm.co.za & www.saponzi.co.za
E-mazing how Noseweek is quoted as having the info….??? One of the E-mails I got says remember the ‘OU’ Transvaal…..”Kak & Betaal’……. Unreal Interest paybacks should ALWAYS ring a bell………. Even timeshare / Accomadation deals that sound to be good to be true , should be checked, and in most cases avoided….
If this was not so sad, it would have been funny !!! …………………..
The Economy Is So Bad . . .

Hey, neat...the guy who made $50 billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $750 billion disappear.
The Maccabbi Games fever is increasing, and I went to the Maccabi ‘Sportsman of the Year’ last night and it was a very good get together with a lot of ‘GEES’ among the ‘Yidlach’ going to the games in a weeks time….. Kobus Wiese was HUGE as the assistant MC, and is a ‘LAG’ a minute…’HUMUNGOUS’ is an understatement……The Senior Winner was the Jockey, Anton Marcus and the Junior Shireen Shapiro…I think the only NEGATIVE of the evening was that we will NOT be sending a ‘Rugger’ team this year….what a GR8 pity…….as ‘in Souff Effrikken terms “Rugger’ is OUR game……. Surely the Politics can still be solved……???? Real sad day, BUT…the evening was GR8 and VERY ‘Balabatish’………It was held at the Wanderers and the Biltong (Maxi’s) and Catering was GR88888…….pic’s http://www.stantgsm.com/list_pics.php
Little Moishe was out shopping with his mother, something he didn't like very much.
But when they passed a toy store, Moishe came to life.
He saw a new toy in the window that he didn't have but wanted.
Moishe begged, pleaded and nagged but to no avail.
He got so rude that his mother firmly said,
"I'm very sorry Moishe, but we didn't come out to buy you a toy."
Moishe angrily said, "I've never met a woman as mean as you."
Holding his hand gently, she replied, " Moishe, darling, one day you'll get married and then you will ….... you really will, I promise you." (Oyvevoy….)

An afternoon TV talk show host interviewed an old couple.
The TV host asked the husband “how old is your wife?”
The husband said “She’s 92 and may she live to be 110.”
“How old are you?”
“I’m also 92”
“How long do you want to live?”
“Till I’m 111.”
“Why would you want your wife to live to 100 and you to 111?”
“To tell you the truth” the husband said, “I would like one year of peace.”

The teenager tells her 'Loosen up Grams. These are modern times.
You gotta let your rose buds show!' and out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes down stairs, and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on. The teenager wants to die.

Two bowling teams, one of all Blondes and one of all Brunettes, charter a double-Decker bus for a weekend trip to Louisiana .
The Brunette team rode on the bottom of the bus, and the Blonde team rode on the top level.
The Brunette team down below really whooped it up, having a great time, when one of
them realized she hadn't heard anything from the Blondes upstairs. She decided to go up and investigate.
When the Brunette reached the top, she found all the Blondes in fear, staring straight ahead at the road, clutching the seats in front of them with white knuckles.
The brunette asked, 'What the heck's going on up here? We're having a great time downstairs!'
One of the Blondes looked up at her, swallowed hard and whispered...

Parsha of The Week |
|
Behaalotcho B”H
Rabbi Yossy Goldman
Sydenham Shul,
C/O ‘Beloved Country’
Timeless Torah
I believe, you believe, we all believe.
Otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this column.
Yet, not all believers necessarily practice every one of the observances that are part of our belief system. We subscribe to the ideology. We don’t necessarily advocate moving the goal posts. But not all of us are quite ready to put into practice all those wonderful ideals.
What is the underlying argument that allows us the luxury of that rationalization? One which, in a moment of frankness, we might admit is somewhat inconsistent with our own stated beliefs?
I get the impression that the subconscious criticism of the traditions we have not yet embraced is that they are out of touch with contemporary society. We happily accept those practices we identify with but pronounce the others as old-fashioned, obsolete and out of step with the modern world. “Rabbi, once upon a time these traditions made sense, but today, do you really expect me to turn the clock back?”
So some will argue that in an age of government inspection and accepted hygiene standards, Kashrut is obsolete. Others will claim that if G-d really intended man to walk on Shabbos, Henry Ford would never have invented the automobile. (A Jewish humorist who had a fear of flying once said that if G-d intended man to fly, surely He would have made it easier to get to the airport!). And still others contend that today our sexual mores can only be determined by consensus and as long as it’s consenting adults, who cares what people are doing in their bedrooms?
The fact is that for many of us the laws of the Torah feel every bit of their 3300 years! Are we really and truly expected to adhere to this ancient code so out of touch with the modern reality?
So let’s think about it. Are we suggesting that G-d who gave us these laws in the first place only had them in mind for those poor Israelites traipsing through the Sinai Desert? Is He so myopic that He cannot see beyond His Jewish nose? As a Rabbi once told an atheist, “The god you don’t believe in, I don’t believe in either.”
Unless we accept that G-d could have seen the world in the 21st century, I would refuse to believe in Him too. A real G-d sees past, present and future and is equally comfortable in our day as He was in the days of Moses. And the promised land of California is no more challenging to His credentials than ancient Canaan.
This week’s Parsha tells us “And the Ark of the Covenant of Hashem journeyed before them…” Rashi interprets this to mean that the Ark which housed the Tablets would miraculously prepare the groundwork for their future encampments.
What it also is telling us is that, in fact, the Torah (as embodied by the Tablets) is way ahead of the game. It goes before us. It is not only timeless; it is ahead of its time.
I can think of so many values and lifestyles which have become trendy now which Torah has been encouraging for centuries.
A recent Time magazine cover story focused on young moms who are putting successful careers on hold in order to stay home and nurture their children when they need them most. From the beginning, Torah exempted women from time-bound mitzvahs like Tefillin or thrice-daily Prayers so that they could fulfil the more important mitzvah of raising the next generation.
The Jewish tradition of sitting shiva when one loses a family member is today recognized by non-Jewish psychologists as being excellent bereavement therapy. When Jacob cooked lentils for his father Isaac, it was because he was a mourner sitting shiva for Abraham.
Whereas a generation ago, women spurned Mikveh as demeaning, today’s woman is embracing it as a supreme acknowledgment of her sexuality and the most beautiful spiritual experience available. But there were mikvehs in Masada and long before.
The whole explosion of a society in search of spirituality, with celebrities and pop icons studying the kabbalah, only serves to validate the teachings of Jewish mysticism which are indeed of ancient days.
Bell bottoms have come and gone and come back again and will soon recede until another season comes. Paisley ties were once compulsory but today are verboten. Fads and fashions come and go but G-dly values, the morals of menschlichkeit and the mitzvahs of Torah are not behind the times. If anything, they are ahead of the times.
As He is beyond time, so are His commandments. If they appear in our mortal eyes as anachronistic, then that is our challenge. To relate Torah to our own realities and to shape our lives according to its standard. He intended it for us and our world too, so obviously it can be done.
We won’t gloat and say ‘we told you so.’ But He did.
