Dear All,

The weather in Joburg has been ‘Freezing’ for the past couple of weeks, and we do not get such cold here in the ‘Beloved Country’, BUT….I did say it looked like it would be a cold season…..I have just returned from my trip to London , where the weather was good for London and quite hot & Israel, which was as hot as Upington, 24 hours a day…Oey vy, it was ‘Tukka’ hot………had a rough time in the intense heat, and of course Masada and the Dead sea were even hotter……

To the ‘Kaylikka’s’ on the list, the last 4 letters I wrote I said there would be no letters till end of July……..thanks for ALL the concern………. I did not do ANY sport today, as I have not finished watching the Tri-nations games I missed, BUT…….the ‘Bokke’ are looking good………. The Ashes are VERY interesting…… are the Aussies going more downhill…????

Since singer Susan Boyle has been on TV there's been a marked drop in suicide bombing.
Apparently, a lot of the terrorists didn't realise what a virgin looks like…. (Oey vy).

The trip was E-mazing , and when I think of what we did in just under 3 weeks, it is ‘Skrikky’….. London was ‘lekker’ and the trip to Manchester and Blackpool quite fascinating………met soooo many ex Pat Souff Effrikken ‘Yidden’ everywhere…. Yidlach I forgot had left…….. Stayed near Golders Green in Finchley at the Holiday Inn Express which was a Meichel, and E-mazing how many ‘Yids’ from around the world were staying there…..E-mazing to see that they had Kosher breakfasts and Shabbos lifts, keys etc……GR8888 place to stay when visiting the Kinderlach in Golders, as the local Hotels are a bit suspect……
Popped into the JLE (Joburg Learning Experience ) for Shabbos and went to Rabbi Resnick for Shabbos Dinner.…….wonderful experience…..and met Rabbi’s Ross, Tatz and Kirsch and of course my ‘Old’ chaver Rabbi Warshafsky, who used to play the Organ at Frum Simcha’s and taught at Yeshiva College……
Quite a few Kosher restaurants along the Golder’s Strip, and of course Bloom’s for Salt beef……..

A woman was at work when she received a phone call that her small daughter was very sick with a  fever. She left her work and stopped by the pharmacy to get some medication. She got back to her car and found that she had locked her keys in the car.
She didn't know what to do, so she called home and told the baby sitter what had happened. The baby sitter told her that the fever was getting worse.
She said, "You might find a coat hanger and use that to open the door."
The woman looked around and found an old rusty coat hanger that had been left on the ground, possibly by someone else who at some time had locked their keys in their car. She looked at the hanger and said,
"I don't know how to use this." She bowed her head and asked G-d to send her help.. Within five minutes a beat up old motorcycle pulled up, with a dirty, greasy, bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag on his head. The woman thought, "This is what you sent to help me?"
But, she was desperate, so she was also very thankful.
The man got off of his cycle and asked if he could help.
She said, "Yes, my daughter is very sick.  I stopped to get her some medication and I locked my keys in my car.
I must get home to her. Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?
He said, "Sure." He walked over to the car, and in less than a minute the car was opened. She hugged the man and through her tears she said,
"Thank You So Much! You are a very nice man."
The man replied, "Lady, I am not a nice man.  I just got out of prison today.
I was in prison for car theft and have only been out for about an hour."
The woman hugged the man again and with sobbing tears cried out loud,
"Oh, thank you, G-d! You even sent me a Professional!"  Is G-D GOOD or what ????

Israel, The ‘Land of Milk & Honey’ and ‘Heat’ was GR88888888, BUT…..sooooo hot……In the years I have not been there it has really grown, with incredible highways joining the Major cities, and of course, like a ‘Schmuck’ I took ‘Shlegg’ advice, and hired a car………reckon I was a nervous wreck…….what a mission to drive on the wrong side, and of course, an observation (only) is that they should not bother to put indicators on vehicles, as no one uses them….and you soon just push in like the locals….did a lot of traveling , and drove right up to Zefat, and it was an interesting drive, and then back along the coast to Haifa and ended up in Tel Aviv, which is an E-mazing city that ‘Pumps’………also drove to Masada & the Dead sea………..incredible to see, BUT…..hot as hell……
A trip the family will not forget in a long time, and it was soooooo good to have all 5 of us together……..for 3 Shabboses……..the Kotel is always special and went there on Friday night which was an experience of a life time……..and then again on Shabbos……..I reckon that each time you visit the ‘Wall’, you get a different feeling ……….I stayed at Kfar Maccabiah in Ramat Gan , and saw many of the Participants, BUT….the ‘Rugger oaks’ were already knocked out, and my Chaver Basil Kletz was running in Tiberius, the morning I arrived in Israel, soooooo I will have to try for the next Games…Mazeltov to Basil in getting a bronze, even though he got ‘Fablonzered’ (lost)……The Cricketers did well winning the Gold in the juniors and seniors, and the Bowlers also did well winning a few Golds……the ‘Gees’ was good among the ‘Yiddisher’ nations…….and it was E-mazing to meet up with South American sportsmen & women in numbers ……..The Aussies won the Rugger Gold (with the help of quite a lot of ex Pat Souff Effrikkens)………got an e-mail from my old Stan & Pete waiter Harvey Manne (London), and his Zunnelle Liron played for the UK, and scored a Hat trick against Oz…..(Mmmmm) he met with the GR888 Sir Bobby Charlton..Picture http://www.totallyjewish.com/pg/?g=3&ps=1287&p=OE2H4186.JPG

Three women were stranded on an island, a brunette, a redhead, and a blonde. The brunette looked over the water to the mainland and estimated about 20 miles to shore. She announced, "I'm going to try to swim to shore." After 5 miles, she was already really tired. She made it 10 miles from the island before she became too tired to go on, and drowned.

Now the blonde thought to herself, "I wonder if they made it! I think I'd better try to make it, too." So she swam out 5 miles, 10 miles, 15 miles, and finally 19 miles from the island. The shore was just in sight, but she said, "I'm too tired to go on!" So she swam back.

Two elderly people living in a Sebring  Retirement Community, he was a widower and she a widow, had known each other for a number of years. One evening there was a community supper in the big clubhouse.
The two were at the same table, across from one another. As the meal went on, he took a few admiring glances at her and finally gathered the courage to ask her,
'Will you marry me?'
After about six seconds of 'careful consideration,' she answered, 'Yes. Yes, I will!'

The meal ended and, with a few more pleasant exchanges, they went to their respective places. Next morning, he was troubled. 'Did she say, 'yes' or did she say 'no'?' He couldn't remember. Try as he might, he just could not recall.
Not even a faint memory. With trepidation, he went to the telephone and called her.

First, he explained that he didn't remember as well as he used to. Then he reviewed the lovely evening past. As he gained a little more courage, he inquired, 'When I asked if you would marry me, did you say 'Yes' or did you say 'No'?'
He was delighted to hear her say, 'Why, I said, 'Yes, yes I will' and I meant it with all my heart.' Then she continued ………………………………..

The bingo Caller gets him on stage, and says 'Son - I've never seen you in here in all my life, but you won 4 corners, any line, full house & the National Grid - I've never met anyone so lucky.'
'Lucky ?' he screamed, 'Lucky ? I'll have you know I've got Yellow 24.'

A man was driving when a light flashed………………
He thought his picture was taken for exceeding the speed limit, even though he knew he was not speeding. Just to be sure, he went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed.
He thought this was quite funny, so he slowed down even further as he drove past the area, but the traffic camera flashed yet again.
He tried a fourth time with the same result.
The fifth time he was laughing when the camera flashed as he rolled past at a snail's pace.
Two weeks later, he got five traffic fine letters in the mail for driving without a seat belt.

The Never Ending Voice

When the Ten Commandments are repeated in the Torah as part of Moses' review of the Israelites' 40 years in the wilderness, Moses describes how G-d spoke those words in "a mighty voice that did not end" (Deuteronomy 5:19). One of the explanations offered by Rashi is that Moses is contrasting G-d's voice with human voices. The finite voice of a human being, even a Pavarotti, will fade and falter. It cannot go on forever. But the voice of the Almighty did not end, did not weaken. It remained strong throughout.
Is this all the great prophet had to teach us about the voice of G-d? That it was a powerful baritone? That it resonated? Is the greatness of the Infinite One that he didn't suffer from shortness of breath, that He didn't need a few puffs of Ventolin? Is this a meaningful motivation for the Jews to accept the Torah?
Moses was the greatest of all prophets. He foresaw what no other prophet could see. Perhaps he saw his people becoming caught up in the civilization of ancient Greece, in the beauty, culture, philosophy and art of the day. And they might question, is Torah still relevant?
Perhaps he foresaw Jews empowered by the Industrial Revolution, where they might have thought Torah to be somewhat backward. Or, maybe it was during the Russian Revolution that faith and religion were positively primitive.
Perhaps Moses saw our own generation with its satellites and space shuttles, television and technology. And he saw young people questioning whether Torah still speaks to them.
And so Moses tells us that the voice that thundered from Sinai was no ordinary voice. The voice that proclaimed the Ten Commandments was a voice that was not only powerful at the time, but one that "did not end." It still rings out, it still resonates, it still speaks to each of us in every generation and in every part of the world.
Revolutions may come and go but revelation is eternal. The voice of Sinai continues to proclaim eternal truths that never become passé or irrelevant. Honor Your Parents, revere them, look after them in their old age instead of abandoning them to some decrepit old age home. Live moral lives; do not tamper with the sacred fiber of family life, be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. Dedicate one day every week and keep that day holy. Turn your back on the rat race and rediscover your humanity and your children. Don't be guilty of greed, envy, dishonesty or corruption.
Are these ideas and values dated? Are these commandments tired, stale or irrelevant? On the contrary. They speak to us now as perhaps never before. The G-dly voice has lost none of its strength, none of its majesty. The mortal voice of man declines and fades into oblivion. Politicians and spin-doctors come and go, but the heavenly sound reverberates down the ages.
Torah is truth and truth is forever. The voice of G-d shall never be stilled.
